A whole box of spices, sandalwood and honey mix with lighter aromas of pineapple and maybe Lipton Peach Ice tea.
A rich and rounded dram, spotted dick cake, hazelnuts, raisin bread, butterscotch and orange gummies.
The sweet breadiness fades slowly leaving vanilla, oak and a touch of cloves in it’s wake.
A stunning spirit matured in 2 beautiful ex-Palo Cortado sherry casks...
One quarter cask (125 litres) and one firkin (55 litres). Distilled together, matured side by side and then vatted for bottling.
A bread and butter pudding distillate - matured for 14 years and bottled at cask strength🙌
distilled in January of 2009, this cask was matured in ex-bourbon wood (surprise surprise…) before Uncharted Whisky got it. Having sampled the spirit, it was clear that the distillate was excellent but the wood needed an upgrade. The Auchroisk single malt was then transferred into two beautiful ex-Palo Cortado sherry casks, one small cask- a quarter cask- and one very small cask- a firkin (please cue the bad pun about how firkin good it tastes).
These casks not only held Palo Cortado sherry previously (a rare, dry and refined sherry style) but also previously held mature Benrinnes single malt.
The mosaic of additive maturation from the bourbon wood, from the Benrinnes spirit and the Palo Cortado sherry seasoned wood has come together beautifully with the canvas that the Auchroisk distillate offers. The result is a beautiful bread and butter pudding dram with a lot fruit.
Uncharted Whisky decided to name this release after Dire Straights' Brothers In Arms 🤝
